Spectors Book
Crafted for Story Lovers
Set in the summer of 1958, twelve year-old Billy is plucked from the safety of familiar surroundings and friends, and deposited in a strange city as his father embarks on a new job. Alone and lonely, Billy is left to explore the streets and secrets of a city whose past intrudes on the present, and where imagination blurs the bright edge of reality. Peopled with characters reminiscent of Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird," John Berendt's "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," and Kennedy Toole's "A Confederacy of Dunces," Billy discovers new friendships, and learns empathy through loss in a city shaped by hardship and joy.
I'M
Richard Spector
Richard Spector is a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He retired from an active medical and legal practice that included publications in both medical and legal, peer reviewed journals. He was on the editorial staff of two medical journals, and spent over a decade in risk management consulting. He fills his retirement with furniture making, painting and gardening. The Crescent, his first foray into fiction, is prompted by his second son's request to memorialize the stories fabricated to entertain Richard's four children. He is pictured with another son's dog, who smiles at the human's he loves, just like Dog, in The Crescent.
